Bastione di Capo Marchiafava

The Bastione di Capo Marchiafava is located at the eastern end of Cefalù’s historic centre. It is a solid stone structure, part of the ancient defensive walls that once protected the town from attacks by sea. Today, the bastion has been transformed into a public terrace, open to everyone. From here, you can closely observe the layers of the walls, which tell the story of the town and its coastal defence systems. The place is highly appreciated for its open view of the sea and the cliffs below, creating a striking and relaxing setting.<\/p>\n\n

It is especially worth reaching the Bastione at sunset, when the light enhances the colours of the stone and the sea. It is just a few minutes’ walk from Piazza Duomo: simply walk through the narrow streets of the centre towards the coast, following the signs for the seafront. I recommend combining your visit with a stroll along the nearby seafront or a stop at the small old harbour, to complete the experience between history and the seascape.<\/p>
