La Rocca is the rocky formation that towers over Cefalù, reaching a height of 270 meters. The trail starts just outside Porta di Terra, one of the main entrances to the historic center, and takes about 25 minutes to walk uphill. Along the way, you'll encounter traces of ancient fortifications and, continuing to the summit, you can visit the remains of the medieval castle and the area of the Temple of Diana, evidence of pre-Roman worship. From the top, there is a view that encompasses the historic center, the sea, and a significant stretch of Sicily's northern coast.<\/p>
La Rocca offers an accessible trekking experience, combining nature, archaeology, and panoramic views. It is recommended for those who want to discover a less touristy but central aspect of Cefalù's history. The trail is exposed to the sun, so it is advisable to plan your visit in the early morning or late afternoon, especially in summer. It is easily reached on foot from the historic center: consider combining the climb with a stroll through the town's ancient streets, perhaps including a visit to the nearby Medieval Wash House or the Cathedral after descending.<\/p>
